Carmen Louise SMITH
Was born on September 18, 1948 in Miami, Florida, and died September 8, 2006 at her home in Seattle, Washington. She courageously fought cancer throughout the last five years of her life. Following graduation from high school and the University of Florida, Carmen joined Pan American World Airways as a flight attendant and through that employment, traveled the world. She based for one year in New York City and four in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1977 she left Pan Am to begin legal studies at Georgetown University Law Center where she graduated in 1980. Carmen's law practice began in Washington, D.C., with the National Housing Partnership where she helped organize private ventures to create low-income housing. In 1982 she moved to Seattle with her husband, John Sessions, and joined Graham & Dunn. Her legal career at Graham & Dunn spanned twenty years and included terms as the Chair of the Washington State Bar Association Securities Section and the Governor's Securities Law Advisory Committee. She concluded her professional responsibilities when it became apparent that breast and brain cancer treatments required a full-time commitment. An active hiker and climber, she often joined friends to scale peaks in the Canadian Rockies. Between treatments, she managed to hike in the Highlands of Scotland, traverse the Grand Canyon in a single day, and climb in the Dolomites. Friends and family remember Carmen as beautiful, intelligent and sensitive. She possessed a unique ability to make any person feel they were in the right place when they were with her. Carmen is survived by her parents, Victoria and Lloyd of Gainesville, Florida; her brothers, Brian, David and Steve; her husband; and her beloved children, Ian, a senior at Villanova University, and Ana, an eighth grader at St. Joseph's School. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's parish, 700 18th Ave. East, on Friday, September 22nd, at 4:00 p.m. A dinner and dance will follow. Friends and associates are welcome. In lieu of material remembrances, please favor the Kaplan Cancer Research Fund c/o Swedish Foundation, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122-4307.

Donna MacNiven

November 30, 2011

On November 30, 2011, Donna MacNiven passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved wife of Ralph MacNiven and mother of Heather Bosse and Tiffany Lehman.

Donna was born on October 27, 1948 in Miami, FL to Art and Betty Jo Powell. She moved to Naples in 1974 when she helped Ralph open his State Farm Agency. Several years later, Donna opened her own State Farm Agency being one of the first female Agents in the state. She went on to become an Agency Field Executive until her retirement in 2004. YLC is a weeklong program focused on developing leadership skills for Collier County teens.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ralph MacNiven; her daughter and son-in-law Heather and Shane Bosse and her grandsons Ian and Conner Bosse (Charleston, SC); her daughter and son-in-law Tiffany and Al Lehman, DVM and her granddaughters Kiersten and Samantha Lehman (Naples, FL); her sister and brother-in-law Marsha and Terry Bibleheimer and her niece Lisa Bibleheimer (Charlotte, NC); her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Julie and Dan Moore (Santa Barbara, CA), her nieces Debbie Botting and Kristen Perkins (Texas).

Donna fought valiantly against the breast cancer that was originally diagnosed in 1996; her strength and positive attitude were an inspiration to all who knew her. Donna was deeply grateful for the loving support of her family and many amazing friends. Special appreciation goes out to Patti and Bob Miller (Boca Raton, FL); Elizabeth and Guy Brickman (Davie, FL); Joan and Joel Cox (Naples, FL); Judy and Darrell Campbell (Naples, FL).

Date Of Death April 26, 2001

I am saddened to say that I received an email that Shawn Keeley's mother had passed away a couple of weeks ago. This is always a sad time in one's life to lose a Father or Mother. Our deepest sympathies go out to Shawn and his family.

Our condolences and prayers go out to Tom & Linda Dean who's son David Roger Dean passed away January 31st. In my quest for searching out our classmates, I had the pleasure and honor of meeting young David and he has left a spot in my heart that I will carry for the rest of my life.
